Designed by Pearl: A Lifelong Learner’s Legacy in Every Thread
This limited-edition t-shirt was custom-designed by Pearl, a proud JARC graduate whose journey with JARC spans decades. Pearl first connected with JARC when a staff member visited her workplace in the ‘90s. She enrolled in computer classes, and loved them. “JARC showed us how to do a lot of stuff,” she recalls with a smile.
When she returned to Chicago in 2003, Pearl dove into JARC’s CNC program and kept learning, taking more classes in Microsoft Office and computer skills. “They had a good graduation for us. They gave us those little papers and everything. It was nice. I loved it.” Her training opened doors, from warehouse work to a job at Walgreens operating machines she once didn’t feel qualified to touch. Before long, she was training others.
Now retired, Pearl returned to JARC once again, not as a student, but as a t-shirt designer. Her winning entry captures the heart of JARC’s mission. “I tried to put everything that I knew that JARC did. My niece helped me put the design on the shirt.”
Her message is clear: “JARC is the best place to go, and it’s free. You can learn for free.”

Fabric
Made from specially spun fibers that make a very strong and smooth fabric that is perfect for printing. The "Natural" color is made with unprocessed cotton, which results in small black flecks throughout the fabric
Without side seams
Knitted in one piece using tubular knit, it reduces fabric waste and makes the garment more attractive
Ribbed knit collar without seam
Ribbed knit makes the collar highly elastic and helps retain its shape
Shoulder tape
Twill tape covers the shoulder seams to stabilize the back of the garment and prevent stretching
Fiber composition
Solid colors are 100% cotton; Heather colors, Tweed, and Russet are 50% cotton, 50% polyester; Sport Grey and Antique colors are 90% cotton, 10% polyester;

Dual Printing Techniques
Sleeve prints (for Print Clever and Underground Threads) and inner neck labels are printed using Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing, ensuring crisp, detailed designs. Meanwhile, the remaining print areas are produced with Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing.
