Chris Modern Accent Coffee Mug

This limited-edition mug was custom-designed by Christopher, a JARC Welding trainee whose journey proves it’s never too late to change course. With a background in illustration and apparel design, Christopher once found himself creatively unfulfilled. “Since the day I started that job, I was applying for other roles, chasing that feeling I had back in art school,” he recalls. “I felt stuck. I was comfortable, and once you're comfortable, you stop growing.”

A simple Google search for free welding programs led him to JARC, and to a new beginning. At JARC’s Austin location, Christopher is learning to weld with precision, receiving consistent support from instructors, financial coaches, and peers along the way. “Adrian, my instructor, gives constructive feedback that helps me keep growing. He reminds me I can do this.”

While mastering a new trade, Christopher returned to his artistic roots and won JARC’s t-shirt design contest. His winning graphic merges creativity and purpose, just like his journey. “I always liked the JARC website, so I was excited to get the opportunity to work on my design.”

He’s still building his future, but his vision is clear: “I’m hoping to become a homeowner… live comfortably, gain a little financial freedom, just build something for myself.”
